| On August 27, the officers and crew of the USNS Observation Island celebrated the 50th anniversary of the first test launch of a Polaris missile at sea from the ship's deck. The USNS Observation Island is operated for Military Sealift Command by Maersk Line Limited and is manned in all licensed positions by American Maritime Officers. |
