| The T-5 tanker USNS Lawrence H. Gianella arrived at McMurdo Station in Antarctica in January after transiting more than 60 miles of ice channel during the voyage for Operation Deep Freeze 2009. The fuel delivered by the USNS Gianella during the mission supplies the National Science Foundation station for the year. The USNS Gianella is operated by Ocean Ships Inc. and manned in all licensed positions by American Maritime Officers. |
