On May 22, 2011, while underway at sea, the crew of the M/V Freedom assembled to commemorate National Maritime Day. During the ceremony, AB Fred Wood recited President Barack Obama's 2011 National Maritime Day proclamation. Afterwards, the crew honored all past, present and future U.S. mariners with three strikes on ship's bell followed by a moment of silence.
