| The Secretary of Defense in February awarded Michael Thomas, Third Mate on the USNS Richard G. Matthiesen, the Antarctica Service Medal in recognition of his contribution to exploration and scientific achievement to the U.S. Antarctic Program while deployed to McMurdo Station. Col. Paul Sheppard presented the award to Thomas. |
