On Oct. 23 of last year, the Ocean Atlas rescued fishing vessel Anconsito 1, which was adrift 50 miles west of Manta, Ecuador, with 17 crew aboard and two small open boats missing at sea. The Ocean Atlas supplied diesel fuel the fishing vessel needed to make landfall. The Ecuadorian Coast Guard, maritime authorities, and the fishing vessel's agents in Coquimbo, Chile, were notified. The two small boats were finally located after making landfall. The Ocean Atlas remained on the scene until the small boat crew returned to fishing vessel and all persons were accounted for.
