M/V Ocean Titan delivers patrol boat for Iraqi navy

The heavy lift ship M/V Ocean Titan last week delivered a 115-foot patrol boat to Manama, Bahrain, as part of its mission under Military Sealift Command charter.

The U.S.-built vessel, the second of a new class of patrol boats, is destined for Iraq, where it will be used by the Iraqi navy primarily to patrol coastal waters and secure the nation's oil platforms. Because the boat is designed to operate within 200 miles of shore, it could not make the ocean voyage from Morgan City, La., to Bahrain. MSC will deliver the next patrol boat early next year.

The 390-foot Ocean Titan is operated by Pacific-Gulf Marine and is manned in all licensed positions by American Maritime Officers.
