AMO Web site now uses PayPal for online payments

American Maritime Officers has altered its online payment system to expand options for AMO members, reduce fees paid by the union and provide complete processing of all payments in a single transaction.

AMO members have been able to make payments towards dues and initiation fees, as well as contributions to the AMO Voluntary Political Action Fund, through the secure section of the AMO Web site, www.amo-union.org. AMO will now use PayPal to process all online transactions.

AMO MEMBERS DO NOT NEED TO HAVE A PAYPAL ACCOUNT TO MAKE PAYMENTS ONLINE.

Whether or not AMO members have a PayPal account, PayPal will accept nearly all major credit cards. For AMO members with a PayPal account, registered bank accounts may also be used to make online payments. A transaction receipt for the user will immediately be sent via e-mail by PayPal.

PayPal charges the union a lower fee per transaction than had been available through the previous system used to process online payments. In addition to expanding payment options for AMO members, the switch to PayPal will result in a significant cost savings for AMO.

The new system will also improve convenience for AMO members making payments online. AMO members will now be able to enter payment amounts for dues and initiation, and an amount for a contribution to the AMO VPAF, and process all items in one transaction.

AMO members can access the online payments service in the secure section of the AMO Web site. Once on the home page, members can log in by clicking on the "AMO Member Log In" tab on the left side of the page. Active AMO members and applicants can access the secure section of the AMO Web site with their user ID and password for the AMO Dispatching Web site. Links are available on the log-in page for AMO members who need to register for an online account with AMO Dispatching, and for retrieving a lost or forgotten password.
