STAR Center offers Safety Officer Course


STAR Center will in 2011 offer a two-day Safety Officer Course designed to provide knowledge and guidance to those who may be designated to perform the duties and responsibilities of a ship's safety officer, and for senior officers.

The course takes an in-depth look at necessary rules and regulations, including revisions to the ISM code, safety inspections and audits, the ship safety committee, accident investigation and reporting, risk assessment, training, work permit systems, human factors and leadership considerations in promoting a shipboard culture of safety.

Initial dates for the Safety Officer course have been scheduled as follows: Feb. 7, Mar. 28, May 9.
