Last week, the roll-on/roll-off carrier M/V Endurance unloaded several hundred Stryker armored combat vehicles in Port Canaveral, Fla.
The Stryker vehicles, used by the 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, are returning to the U.S. as part of the drawdown in Iraq as major military operations come to an end in that nation. The Endurance traveled 9,000 nautical miles in three weeks to transfer the vehicles from Kuwait back to the United States.
The Endurance is one of nine car carriers operated by Crowley Liner Services for American Roll-on/Roll-off Carrier and is manned in all licensed positions by American Maritime Officers. The vessel entered U.S.-flag service in February of this year.
