The audited financial statements of American Maritime Officers for fiscal years 2009 and 2010 are available for AMO membership review on the AMO Web site under "Union and industry bulletins and documents".
The statements include a side-by-side comparison of all of the union's operating costs in each of the fiscal years. In AMO, the fiscal year begins on April 1 and ends on March 31.
The financial statements differ from the LM-2 financial disclosure reports AMO files each year with the U.S. Department of Labor only in the way data is compiled and recorded. The Labor Department requires that an LM-2 show earned revenue actually received and disbursements actually made, while the simpler audited financial statement shows earned revenue - received or not - and known expenses, regardless of whether these bills have yet been paid.
