Re-flagging ceremony for M/V Endurance marks addition of ninth ship to ARC fleet, new jobs for AMO

On May 14, American Roll-On Roll-Off Carrier hosted a re-flagging ceremony for the M/V Endurance at the Port of Baltimore, formally marking the entry of the ninth ship - and the largest U.S.-flagged commercial roll-on/roll-off vessel - into the company's fleet.

American Maritime Officers represents all licensed officers and the Seafarers International Union represents all unlicensed crew aboard the ships in the ARC fleet, which are operated by Crowley Liner Services.

"AMO is very proud to be working with ARC to bring this impressive ship into the U.S. fleet," said AMO National President Tom Bethel. "The Endurance is an extremely important ship in the commercial trades and for the Department of Defense in the Maritime Security Program fleet."

The Endurance entered service in February of this year, bringing with it new jobs for AMO members. The ship will replace the M/V Liberty in the MSP fleet. The Liberty will remain in operation under U.S.-flag and AMO contract in the ARC fleet.

The exceptional work and professionalism of the AMO officers and SIU crew aboard the Endurance and sailing throughout the ARC fleet were recognized during the reflagging ceremony. Attending the ceremony from AMO were Endurance officers Capt. Marc Taylor, Chief Engineer Chuck Benson, Capt. Matthew Hight, Chief Mate Jeff Musk, and Chief Mate Dan Talecki, and AMO National President Tom Bethel and AMO National Executive Vice President Bob Kiefer.
