The North Atlantic Council has extended the North Atlantic Treat Organization (NATO) anti-piracy mission through the end of 2012. Standing NATO Maritime Group 2, which patrols near Somalia, currently consists of one vessel each from the U.S., U.K., Italy, Turkey and Greece. These vessels conduct NATO Operation Ocean Shield, focusing on at-sea counter-piracy operations.
