Maersk completes purchase of M/V Phillips, M/V Baugh

AMO continues to man both ships in all licensed positions

Maersk Line Limited has completed the purchase of the M/V PFC William B. Baugh and the M/V PVT Franklin J. Phillips, the company announced this week. The ships will continue to be manned in all licensed positions by American Maritime Officers and in all unlicensed positions by the Seafarers International Union.

The M/V Baugh and M/V Phillips will soon be renamed the Maersk Texas and Maersk Tennessee, respectively, and will join the Maersk Line U.S.-flag commercial fleet serving the U.S. charter and cargo preference spot markets.

The two general cargo roll-on/roll-off combination ships have been operating under a long-term Military Sealift Command charter and were redelivered for sale this month. The 755-foot ships—each with six onboard cargo cranes, two side ports and a stern ramp—have supported the U.S. Marine Corps Prepositioning Program since they entered service in 1984.
