M/V Endurance transports Army gear from Poland back to U.S.
The American Roll-On Roll-Off Carrier (ARC) ship Endurance, which is enrolled in the Maritime Security Program, arrived at the Port of Gydnia, Poland, to pick up 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, equipment following the return of the command's personnel to their home base of Fort Hood, Texas. After a few weather delays, the Endurance began loading the equipment on February 26.
The U.S. Navy's Military Sealift Command Europe and Africa (MSCEURAF) worked closely with representatives of the U.S. Army's 838th Transportation Battalion to move 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division (3-1 CD ABCT), equipment from Poland to Texas. The approximately 1,600 pieces of Army gear needed to be cleaned, inspected and cued on the Port of Gydnia pier prior to loading on the Endurance, a Maritime Security Program ship with the capability transport heavy vehicles. The Endurance is operated for ARC in the Maritime Security Program fleet by TOTE Services. American Maritime Officers represents all licensed officers aboard the ship.
