As a reminder to AMO members, new Coast Guard requirements for officers serving as designated vessel security officers took effect Sept. 1. All officers serving as VSOs must have completed vessel security officer training meeting STCW standards. The STAR Center Vessel Security Officer Course is certified by DNV for the Maritime Administration and has been approved by the U.S. Coast Guard as meeting STCW requirements for vessel security officer training.
