Monthly AMO membership meeting April 6; agenda includes notification of 2022 election

The next regularly scheduled monthly AMO membership meeting will be held at union headquarters in Dania Beach on Wednesday, April 6, at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.

The agenda for this meeting will include the National President's Pre-Balloting Report as provided for in Article VIII Section 1(f) of the AMO National Constitution (Duties of National Officers, National Representatives and Committee Members). This report, which marks the start of the 2022 AMO election cycle, specifies the official positions that will be on the ballot.

The National President will also report on the official mail ballot depository approved by the AMO National Executive Board.

The agenda will also include summaries of nomination requirements and procedures, voter eligibility and the balloting timeline, all of which are specified in Article XI of the AMO National Constitution (Election of National Officers and National Executive Board Members: National President, National Secretary-Treasurer, National Executive Vice President, National Vice Presidents).

Copies of the AMO National Constitution will be available to all AMO members participating in the meeting, and this governing document is now circulating to AMO member homes and within the fleets as a supplement to the March 2022 issue of this union's newspaper, American Maritime Officer. The AMO National Constitution is also posted to the AMO website.

Subsequent meetings will include reports on procedures and requirements as they occur between the April 6, 2022 meeting and the tabulation of ballots in December 2022.

With the easing of COVID restrictions in South Florida, masks and vaccine verification cards are optional. There is no longer a requirement to verify COVID testing.
