Current Coast Guard credential application form remains valid during revision period

The U.S. Coast Guard issued a notice stating that the “Credential Application Form” 719B Rev (3/04) is undergoing revisions in order to “assist mariners in providing complete applications, simplify the application process and to align the form with the new merchant mariner credential regulations.” The current version of the form will remain valid until a new version is introduced and phased in over a period of time.

Additionally, the Coast Guard issued a set of recommendations for mariners to minimize delays in receiving a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC). Applicants should identify themselves as “merchant mariner” on the application form under “occupation”. Mariners should also ensure that the biographical information provided on the TWIC application is the same as that provided on the Merchant Mariner Credential application to avoid delays.

These and other Coast Guard bulletins are available on the National Maritime Center Web site.
