STAR Center requirements for those not vaccinated against COVID-19
Due to the dramatic increase in the COVID-19 infection rates in Broward Country and conditions in the surrounding areas, the AMO Safety and Education Plan Subcommittee trustees met on August 12, 2021 in a special session to address the significant increase in risk to ongoing AMO Plans operations, participants and staff.
As a result, effective immediately, the trustees have mandated that unvaccinated students and staff will be tested weekly. Students attending consecutive weeks of training at STAR Center will be tested at the AMO Plans Medical Clinic while at STAR Center and notified of their test times.
Please note that the local conditions and infection rates are being continuously monitored and the trustees are considering additional measures, including re-imposing additional campus restrictions, which may be instituted as the situation worsens.
Per the Centers for Disease Control, people are considered fully vaccinated:
- Two weeks after their second dose in a two-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or
- Two weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson's Janssen vaccine
If you don't meet these requirements, you are NOT fully vaccinated.
The AMO Medical Clinic has the Johnson & Johnson Janssen vaccine available by appointment at 800-348-6515 Ext. 7515.
