Steve Nickerson on the tragic loss of Mike Finnigan

AMO Plans Executive Director Steve Nickerson offered the following comments in his notification to AMO Plans staff that AMO Executive Vice President Mike Finnigan had passed away suddenly on March 19.

Needless to say, the past year has been very difficult and trying on all of us. Your diligence and perseverance are acknowledged by the Executive Board of the union and the employer trustees who serve alongside them. We must carry on and focus on a better future. We are now required to bear the burden of loss of our AMO Executive Vice President Mike Finnigan.

Mike was a warrior and consummate Captain from our fleet who has served as Executive Vice President of AMO since the last election.

Mike was tireless and unyielding in his service for the betterment of the officers who serve aboard the contracted companies' vessels. He never ceased to learn and he always communicated.

We serve these same officers as the staff of AMO Plans. I challenge myself and I challenge you to be dedicated as Mike was dedicated. We must step up and meet the challenges of 2021 without Mike but become even more diligent as Mike was. Our moment of silence acknowledges Mike Finnigan and his loss. However, our continued diligence becomes a memorial to Mike. Let us do so.
