AMO Plans COVID-19 operations update: STAR Center to close March 19 for at least three weeks; benefits departments - medical, vacation, retirement - will continue operations online and by phone; AMO Clinic will remain open; anyone arriving on AMO Plans campus must have an appointment

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 public health emergency - and in full consideration of guidance issued by the White House on March 16 to limit group sizes to ten (10), to minimize all non-essential travel, and to isolate as much as possible - the AMO Plans Board of Trustees reluctantly decided that training operations on the AMO Plans campus in Dania Beach, Fla. will be suspended.

This decision was made to ensure the core responsibilities of continuity in AMO Plans operations can be sustained, and the health and well being of AMO members and applicants and the AMO Plans staff can be protected. If even a single case of COVID-19 were to occur on the AMO Plans campus, it could indefinitely compromise continuity of operations for the benefit plans that serve all AMO members and their families.

STAR Center will close on completion of business on Thursday, March 19 for at least three (3) weeks. The business of the AMO Safety and Education Plan, including STAR Center applications and Non-Resident Training applications and claims, will continue to be processed online. The STAR Center campus will be closed for this period, the galley will be closed and no onsite lodging will be available.

The AMO Plans benefit departments - including medical, vacation and retirement - will continue to process claims and address issues online and by phone, although online will be preferable for the time being.

Anyone arriving on the AMO Plans campus at 2 West Dixie Highway must have a scheduled appointment in order to enter.

The AMO Clinic will remain open. Anyone planning to visit the AMO Clinic must first complete an online health questionnaire.

This announcement will be updated when more information becomes available, including the date when STAR Center operations will resume.
