Time to get behind 'common cause' after AMO election

By Paul Doell
National President

Thank you to all AMO members who voted for me and for my recommended candidates. I am grateful as well to all AMO members who made other decisions through their ballots - and to all candidates for official office in AMO - for participating in a free, fair, open and very important election.

Now that the voting AMO membership has had the last word, we can line up behind what is in fact a union-wide common cause - the professional interests of all deep-sea, Great Lakes and inland waters AMO members. Conciliation is an immediate priority, but we'll need policy consensus as well once the new AMO executive begins its work in January 2019.

I have accomplished much in many ways for the AMO membership in the last four years, and I want very much to do very much more. I remain open to honest conversation, and I welcome the comments, questions, complaints and suggestions of all AMO members.

Meanwhile, I offer best wishes to all AMO families for a healthy and happy holiday season, and for a promising New Year.
