Photos: AMO recognizes merchant mariner veterans on National Maritime Day

American Maritime Officers and STAR Center hosted the American Merchant Marine Veterans Gulfstream Chapter during a ceremony held on campus in Dania Beach, Fla. on May 22. The ceremony was attended by more than 50 AMO members, executive board members and STAR Center staff.

AMO National Vice President, Inland Waters, David Weathers presented the memorial wreath at the National Maritime Day Observance held at the Port of Galveston in Texas. With him is Kevin Sykes of the Seafarers International Union.

AMO West Coast Representative William Barrere gave the keynote speech at the National Maritime Day Observance held at the American Merchant Marine Veterans Memorial in San Pedro, Calif. The Cape Inscription's Chief Mate Ed O'Shea read the President's Proclamation.
