For the fifth year in a row, the USNS VADM K.R. Wheeler crew raised money and purchased toys for the Miewon Orphanage in Busan, South Korea. The toys were presented to the children at the MSCO Korea Christmas party at Pier 8, Busan on December 16, 2016. The Wheeler crew raised $1,700 and then bought the toys during a special run to COSTCO in Busan. Unfortunately, Wheeler had to depart a month before the party, but the children presented MSCO-Korea with a 'thank you' for the Wheeler.

AMO members working aboard the USNS Wheeler include Captain Glenn Macario, Chief Engineer Patrick Yarbrough, Chief Mate Patrick Leahy, First Assistant Engineer Chris Blouch, Second Mate Alfredo Noriega, Second Mate Matt Farmer, Third Mates Mark Blom, James McLaughlin, and Tommaso Giannetti, and Third Assistant Engineers Jason Peters, Jeff Polek, and John Melcher.
