The National Transportation Safety Board issued the following update.
The upcoming mission to recover the El Faro voyage data recorder (VDR) has been rescheduled to early August 2016. In the June 6 press release, the NTSB indicated that the mission would launch in early July. However, the mission has been rescheduled to early August when all necessary resources for the mission are available. The USNS Apache will launch from Little Creek, Virginia during the first week of August and the entire mission is expected to last about two weeks. The mission will include all of the personnel, resources and equipment detailed in the press release referenced above.
