The following letter was sent to AMO National President Paul Doell by Marine Firemen's Union President/Secretary-Treasurer Anthony Poplawski.
On October 5, 2015, in San Francisco, California, the membership of the Marine Firemen's Union stood one minute in silence for the officers and crew of the SS El Faro.
This was followed by similar observances on October 13, 2015, in the ports of Los Angeles and Honolulu, and on October 22, 2015, in the port of Seattle.
The Marine Firemen's Union extends sincere condolences to the families and friends of the fallen mariners, and to their brothers and sisters in the Seafarers International Union - Atlantic, Gulf, Lakes and Inland Waters, and American Maritime Officers.
