Commander of USTRANSCOM commends crew of USNS Impeccable

The following letter was sent by Commander of U.S. Transportation Command Gen. Darren McDew to Thomas Crowley, chairman, president and CEO of Crowley Maritime Corporation. The USNS Impeccable is operated for Military Sealift Command by Crowley and is manned in all licensed positions by American Maritime Officers.

I want to express my sincere appreciation to Crowley Maritime Corporation and the crew of the USNS IMPECCABLE for their recent actions to save the lives of eleven fishermen in the South China Sea. Please pass my heartfelt appreciation to the ship's master, Captain Robert Wiechert, and to all involved for a job well done.

The courage and unwavering compassion demonstrated during the rescue of these men from their sinking vessel is a testament to the longstanding history of selfless service of the U.S. Merchant Marine. They make the Nation proud.
