AMO jobs secure as MSC awards contract for MPF ships to Crowley


Military Sealift Command has awarded Crowley Technical Management the operating contract for six Maritime Prepositioning Force ships - the five Bobo Class ships and the USNS GYSGT Fred W. Stockham. American Maritime Officers will continue to man all six ships in all licensed positions.

Delivery of the first vessel is expected to commence October 1. The contract has a one-year firm period and four one-year options, which if exercised would extend through September 2020.

Maersk Line, Limited is the current operator of these ships, which will be turned over to Crowley under the new contract. The five Bobo Class ships are the USNS 2nd LT John P. Bobo, USNS PFC Dewayne T. Williams, USNS 1st LT Baldomero Lopez, USNS 1st LT Jack Lummus and USNS SGT William R. Button.

The contract award remains subject to protest.
