The U.S. Coast Guard has published a correction to its notice reopening the comment period for the notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) on Seafarers' Access to Maritime Facilities. Comments and related material must either be submitted to the online docket on or before July 27, 2015 or reach the Docket Management Facility by that date. The Coast Guard's previous notice had set an earlier deadline for submitting comments.
The Coast Guard is particularly interested in comments on the USCG estimate that there is a 10.3 percent non-compliance rate among facilities with respect to providing seafarers access. In addition to comments on this topic, the Coast Guard will consider all public comments on the NPRM received during the reopened comment period. The Coast Guard requests that comments already in the docket not be resubmitted.
The notice with instructions for submitting comments during the extension is available online in the Federal Register. Please note the deadline for submitting comments has been changed to July 27, 2015.
Comments previously submitted for the record by American Maritime Officers are available online on the AMO website.
A summary of the NPRM issued in December 2014 is available on the AMO Currents website.
