Crowley Maritime, Maersk Line, Ocean Shipholdings receive AMS safety awards

The Safety Advisory Committee of American Maritime Safety (AMS) presented eight AMS member companies with Maritime Safety Awards, including Crowley Maritime Corporation, Maersk Line Limited and Ocean Shipholdings Inc. The awards were presented at the AMS membership dinner in October.

Founded in 1988, AMS facilitates maritime industry compliance with U.S. Coast Guard regulations and international protocols, and administers safety programs for U.S. and international vessels. AMS represents the interests of more than 400 marine employers in the U.S. and abroad.

All AMS member companies are eligible for annual maritime safety awards. The committee annually selects 25 semi-finalists eligible for the awards and, after consultation with federal and state regulatory agencies, designates eight of the 25 companies as award recipients.

Among the eight companies chosen this year, Crowley Maritime Corporation received the Tanker Vessel Safety Award, Maersk Line Limited received the Responsible Vessel Carrier Award and Ocean Shipholdings Inc. received the American Maritime Safety Award.
