The following letter was sent this month to the director of training at STAR Center by American Maritime Officers member Bruce Callahan.
Over the past 6 months, I have taken some of the STCW classes, along with the Medical PIC class, at STAR Center in Dania.
Lesley Karentz did an excellent job covering the material involved in the medical course.
Russ Schard and the crew at the Broward County fire simulator did an excellent job on fire fighting training.
The accommodations and meals were top notch.
We all hope for quiet days aboard ship, but should things go wrong, the material covered will be applied. Anyone working in the industry should take these classes. They are well prepared and presented to fit the needs of today's shipboard crews.
Everyone at the STAR Center is doing excellent work.
