Trial Committee dismisses all impeachment charges against AMO national president; decision available online


In accordance with the American Maritime Officers National Constitution, a Trial Committee composed of the AMO national secretary-treasurer; the AMO national vice president, inland waters; and AMO National Vice President, Government Relations, J. Michael Murphy conducted proceedings from June 22 to 27 concerning impeachment charges filed against the AMO national president by AMO National Vice President, Great Lakes, John Clemons.

Trial Committee Decision: the Trial Committee on June 27, 2014, unanimously determined that there were no offenses that met the standards for removal from office or disciplinary action on any of the charges. Recommend dismissal of all charges.

In accordance with the AMO National Constitution, the decision of the Trial Committee was presented to the membership during the regular AMO monthly membership meeting on Aug. 4. The decision was ratified by a majority vote of AMO members in attendance. In accordance with the AMO National Constitution, the decision is considered final following its ratification.

The decision of the Trial Committee is available for AMO membership review in the secure section of the AMO website, which is accessible to active AMO members and applicants.
