New jobs for AMO as MSC awards contract for maritime support vessel to Maersk Line, Limited

Military Sealift Command has awarded the operating contract for one maritime support vessel to Maersk Line, Limited, bringing new jobs to the membership of American Maritime Officers.

"We're extremely pleased both to be welcoming a new ship to the fleet and with the new jobs for AMO members," said AMO National President Tom Bethel. "Our union is looking forward to working with Maersk Line, Limited in continuing our tradition of exceptional service to the U.S. Armed Forces in this important mission."

Work under the contract will be performed at sea worldwide. Under the terms of the request for proposals, the ship will host 50 sponsor personnel and will be able to ramp-up to an additional 159 personnel within 24 hours. If all optional extensions are exercised, the contract will extend to October 2018.
