AMO's ISO quality management system certification renewed

The American Bureau of Shipping-Quality Evaluations renewed the ISO 9001:2008 quality management system certification of American Maritime Officers after regularly scheduled audits of the union's headquarters in Dania Beach, Fla., and office in Toledo, Ohio, earlier this month found zero non-conformities with the requirements of the International Organization for Standardization.

AMO first attained ISO quality management system certification in 1998 and "is the only U.S. maritime union we know of that operates with an ISO-certified system," said AMO National Vice President, Deep Sea, Joe Gremelsbacker.

The ISO quality management system, among other things, provides a comprehensive set of tools and procedures for ensuring high-quality services are consistently provided to an organization's stakeholders.
