Women on the Water conference has moved to California Maritime Academy

Maritime industry representatives are invited to attend the second annual Women on the Water conference, to be held on Nov. 6 to 8, 2008, at the California Maritime Academy in Vallejo, Calif. The event was scheduled to be held in Galveston, Texas, but was shifted to California following Hurricane Ike.

The conference provides the opportunity for students to learn about the industry through the eyes of successful women, and can serve as a networking tool for career women to interact with present and future leaders in the maritime industry. Topics to be discussed include environmental changes, human factors (e.g. fatigue, health, and criminalization), industry trends, emerging employment opportunities and regulatory changes, according to the Maritime Administration (MARAD).

For more information, or to register for the conference, visit the Women on the Water Web site at http://www.marad.dot.gov/wow/index.html, or contact Kathy Arnold at (707) 654-1158. Inquiries may also be directed to .
