Register online for Maritime Industry Congressional Sail-In scheduled for May 8

The fourth annual Congressional Sail-In will take place on Capitol Hill May 8, 2013. The Sail-In events of the past three years have been widely supported by the American maritime industry, including ocean carriers, labor unions and terminal operators.

Members of American Maritime Officers are strongly encouraged to participate in the U.S. Maritime Coalition's Sail-In, to meet with elected representatives and to help give a voice in Congress to the men and women of the U.S. merchant marine.

Both American Maritime Officers and American Maritime Officers Service participate in the Maritime Industry Congressional Sail-In, joining dozens of representatives of maritime labor and industry in meetings with congressional representatives, senators and key staff members across Capitol Hill.

Registration (at no cost) and more information are available online. Block hotel rates are available through April 5 and details are available on the event website.

The purpose of the Sail-In is to increase congressional awareness of the importance of America's maritime industry to the economic and national security of the United States, and to bolster support for the programs and policies important to the U.S.-flag merchant marine and the jobs of American merchant mariners and America's maritime workforce.
