Leadership announced for House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, subcommittees

House of Representatives Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Rep. Bill Shuster (R-PA) Jan. 16 announced the leadership he intends to appoint for the full committee and its subcommittees in the 113th Congress.

The House T&I Committee and some of its subcommittees have jurisdiction over many legislative matters critical to the U.S. merchant marine.

"We have an extremely talented team of capable, proven leaders with diverse backgrounds that will be instrumental in the committee's important work this Congress," said Rep. Shuster in an announcement released by the T&I Committee. "I look forward to working together to promote competitiveness and economic growth, reform programs, and strengthen our nation's infrastructure."

Rep. John Duncan, Jr. (R-TN) will be vice chairman of the full T&I Committee. As vice chairman, Rep. Duncan will serve a critical role in advancing the committee's agenda. He will also lead a series of special panels that will have the responsibility of making recommendations to the full committee. Under Rep. Duncan's leadership, special panels will examine issues that span the committee's broad jurisdiction throughout the 113th Congress. Additional details regarding special panels will be announced at a later date, the committee reported.

The vice chairman and subcommittee chairmen are expected to be confirmed at the committee's organizational meeting Jan. 23, the committee reported. The Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure leadership team for the 113th Congress is expected to include:
