Coast Guard personnel continue to repair and restore navigational markers for waterways on the Gulf Coast in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike in an ongoing effort to allow merchant vessels to operate in near-normal conditions.
The hurricane "devastated buoys, day markers and range signs, wiping away nearly all the markers that allow ships to transit safely in Gulf Coast Waters," the Coast Guard reported.
The updated navigational restrictions published by the Coast Guard are available online.
