Dear Brothers & Sisters,
I, along with the American Maritime Officers National Executive Board, offer deepest sympathy and support to those affected by the devastation of Hurricane Sandy. We hope that you and your families are safe and well.
As many of you start to rebuild your lives, please know that our union stands behind you in this time of struggle. We offer our support to you working at sea while your families cope with hardship and heartache at home in areas hit hard by this storm, and we will do our level best to reunite you with your loved ones as quickly and as safely as possible.
Meanwhile, we remind you that our union may be able to help in other ways through the AMO Membership Assistance Program, or MAP, which is intended to help AMO families struck by natural disaster. The MAP Fund is supported entirely by voluntary contributions from deep-sea, Great Lakes and inland waters members, AMO officials and AMO and AMO Plans employees.
Please visit the AMO website for information on how to apply for assistance from the MAP, and on how to contribute to assist AMO members and families in need in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
