Between Sept. 1 and Nov. 30 of this year, the 43 maritime authorities of the Paris and the Tokyo Memoranda of Understanding on Port State Control will launch a joint concentrated inspection campaign (CIC). The campaign is aimed at verifying compliance with SOLAS regulations on fire protection, fire detection and fire extinction arrangements onboard vessels.
In practice, the campaign will be carried out during regular Port State Control inspections, with an added emphasis on fire safety. The Coast Guard has requested vessel owners and operators contact their local sector, OCMI, marine safety unit or detachment with any questions.
