Sealift Inc. awarded prepositioning charter for M/V Fisher

Military Sealift Command awarded Sealift Inc. a time charter for the M/V Maj. Bernard F. Fisher, securing jobs for members of American Maritime Officers in a prepositioning mission for the U.S. Air Force.

The M/V Fisher will preposition ammunition and related supplies, with anticipated locations of operation including Diego Garcia and Korea. If all contract options are exercised, the charter would extend through September 2017. The M/V Capt. Steven L. Bennett, also a Sealift ship manned in all licensed positions by AMO, currently serves in this mission.

"We're very pleased these jobs have been secured for the AMO membership under the new MSC charter award to Sealift," said AMO National Executive Vice President Robert Kiefer. "The M/V Fisher and the AMO officers onboard will provide sustained superior service to the Air Force in this important prepositioning role."
