More TWIC enrollment centers open

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has published updates to the schedule for the opening of Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) enrollment centers. They include:

• Aug. 13, 2008: Stockton, Calif.
• Aug. 20, 2008: American Samoa
• Sept. 4: Guam

American merchant mariners will be required to obtain a TWIC by April 15, 2009, at the latest. Mariners should check the expiration date when applying for and receiving a TWIC card to ensure it is correct and corresponds to the fee paid to the TSA.
