OSG America in July took delivery of the 233,000-barrel capacity barge OSG 244 and the tug OSG Courageous, which together form the articulated tug/barge OSG Courageous. A twin vessel - the OSG Endurance - is due for delivery in September.
The Jones Act ATBs will operate in the Gulf of Mexico carrying refined petroleum products. The OSG Courageous has replaced the OSG Liberty, and the OSG Endurance will replace the OSG Freedom when it enters service.
"These brand new ATBs will provide long term employment for AMO members with OSG America," said AMO National President Tom Bethel. "The new vessels are impressive and welcome additions to OSG's Jones Act fleet and we share the company's excitement on this successful investment in new equipment."
The ATBs were built by VT Halter Marine. The OSG Courageous and the OSG Endurance are manned by American Maritime Officers members in all licensed positions.
