Dear Mr. or Mrs. Replacement Worker...

August 1, 2011

Dear Mr. or Mrs. Replacement Worker,

I do not care to use the word scab as I find it quite unprofessional. I am a professional and will continue to remain a professional for the course of this letter and beyond.

I have been a loyal employee for the American Steamship Company since I was 21 years old. They have provided me with a respectable wage allowing me to raise a healthy family in a healthy environment. For that I am grateful. This is an opportunity that everyone should be afforded.

Unfortunately that day has come to an end. As a "gun for hire" you are lured by money and money alone. You know no loyalty; the very loyalty my peers and I have displayed for so many years. The money that draws you to this ship is not a respectable wage. It is an unrespectable wage and the fact that you have accepted it makes you disloyal and indifferent.

Whether this job you have accepted ends in 10 days or 10 years and you seek employment aboard some other ship in crisis you should ask yourself if your wage was worth the cost of your integrity and values. That is if you even had any integrity or values.

Because you do not respect loyalty I'll ask that you at least respect this ship, which I spent several years aboard and wholeheartedly care for.
