June 25 is International Day of the Seafarer

The International Maritime Organization is urging people around the world to voice their support for and gratitude to seafarers everywhere on the International Day of the Seafarer, which will be observed June 25. The Day of the Seafarer campaign recognizes the contributions mariners make to commerce and emphasizes the fact that waterborne shipping is the engine of global commerce, responsible for the transportation of more than 90 percent of world trade. Seafarers make this engine run smoothly, delivering the essential goods and commodities upon which industry and individuals around the globe depend.
