Crowley-managed vessels receive AMVER awards for rescues at sea

The U.S. Coast Guard recently recognized sixteen Crowley-managed vessels for their voluntary rescue services to vessels in distress in 2010.

Rep. Frank LoBiondo (R-NJ), chairman of the House Subcommittee on Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation, and Adm. Robert Papp, commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard, recognized the vessels with Automated Mutual-Assistance Vessel Rescue System (AMVER) awards.

Among the honorees were AMO-manned vessels Endurance, Blue Ridge, Coast Range, Pelican State, Sunshine State, Courage and Resolve.

"Crowley is a proud participant and supporter of AMVER," said Todd Busch, senior vice president and general manager, Crowley Technical Services. "As a company rooted in the maritime industry, we understand the importance of being there for fellow mariners in the event of an emergency. We were pleased to be able to offer assistance when needed and we appreciate the recognition."
