MSC provides new security training courses to STAR Center

STAR Center has received and will now provide the following three courses from Military Sealift Command (MSC):
  • Two-day Security Watchstander Basic -- this course is required once in a career and those who have taken the "Ship Security & Tactics (SST) Course" are grandfathered and do not require the Security Watchstander Basic Course.
  • One-day Security Watchstander Advanced -- this course is required annually for all Ship Reaction Force members. It includes handcuffing techniques, baton use and takedowns.
  • Three-day Ship's Reaction Force (SRF) Team Member -- this course is required every three years for SRF members. It replaces the SST course. Note: all students must successfully complete the Practical Weapons Course (PWC) on day one of this course to continue.
Initial dates for these courses at STAR Center are as follows:
  • Two-day Security Watchstander Basic: July 14
  • One-day Security Watchstander Advanced: July 18
  • Three-day Ship's Reaction Force (SRF) Team Member: July 19.
Additional dates will not be announced until completion of the first classes.
