Solomon to retire after 27 years with AMO Plans

Known to many members of American Maritime Officers who have trained at STAR Center in Dania Beach, Fla., Student Services Coordinator Carolyn Solomon will be retiring April 29 after 27 years with AMO Plans.

"It's been great working with all of the members," Solomon said. "I have enjoyed working for STAR Center for the past 27 years. My best regards to all the members and their families - if it were not for the membership, I would not have been here.

"To my co-workers, I pray that they will have as many good years as I have had," she said. "To my manager Lisa Marra and my supervisor Graeme Holman, I wish them continued success. It has been a pleasure working with them over the years. God bless you all."

Solomon started working for AMO Plans in 1984 in the Housekeeping Department of what was then known as the School of Marine Engineering and Navigation. She began working in a clerical position at the school in 1986.

"Carolyn is well known and well liked by the membership and everyone who works at STAR Center," said Holman. "We will all miss having her here, and I wish her all the best in her retirement."

She recently found her mother after 45 years of searching and discovered she has six siblings. Her retirement plans include spending as much time as she can with her family.
