Reminder: registration open for Maritime Industry Congressional 'Sail-In'

The U.S. Maritime Coalition will conduct this year's Congressional 'Sail-In' on May 4 in Washington, D.C. AMO members are encouraged to register for the event, where they will have the opportunity to represent the maritime industry to Congressional leaders.

The Sail-In will look to build upon the inaugural event held last year, which was attended by domestic and international ocean carriers, labor unions and other maritime industry representatives. Splitting into groups, they visited a total of 124 members of Congress and key staff members.

The purpose of the Sail-In is to increase Congressional awareness of the importance of America's maritime industry to the national and economic security of the United States, and to generate support for the programs and policies important to the survival and growth of the U.S.-flag merchant marine and to the jobs of American merchant mariners.

Mariners and union and company representatives interested in participating can visit the Sail-In Web site to get information and register (at no cost) for the event.
